What a difference a month makes! It was a little slower in September for new business with only 78 reported firm sales last month as compared to 91 the month before – and 95 sales a year ago during the same month. We expect the highly reduced number of properties for sale is the main culprit (not a lack of buyer interest). Although there may be a bit of a ripple effect from what is happening in Vancouver with the new regulations. New banking regulations are also going to affect some of our potential buyers.
This last quarter was the least active quarter for the year although well above historical average. We are currently on track to hit about 1000 sales in Whistler if current activity levels are maintained. This continues to be the highest levels of activity seen since 2002 should that be achieved.
